3/10/2014- what a month!

First...  Happy birthday Angela Kehrman!!!! Her birthday will always be special in our house, not only because she's an awesome older sister, but also because today is the one year anniversary of the girls coming home! (Our actual due date was March 12th, and they snuck out of the hospital 2 days early).

It's been an awesome and busy month.  Darren and I returned from vacation, Kathleen stayed a bit longer, and as she left the house caught a lovely stomach flu...  As it goes, quarantine is useless, so first it was Paisley and then Mac and then a day later Catherine (and then me and then the babysitter).  Paisley and Mac pulled a quick 48 hour recovery, but Catherine took about 2 weeks til all was well with her belly.  She even got to have a solo visit to the pediatrician, a rare occurrence, I'm not sure the nurses recognized me.

Catherine have a sick baby snuggle

Between Catherine's sick visit and the other 2 get their final synagis shot, we also got to get weighed.

Mac: 19lb, 3oz
Paisley: 15lb, 3oz
Catherine: 15lb, 8oz

Although Catherine is a bit heavier than Paisley, you'd never know it as she is still long and lanky.  One of their favorite games is running away naked in the midst of diaper changes or after their bath.

Catherine caught in the act. (Right after she peed on the floor)

These days our favorite games are dumping out, and emptying.  The drawers, the baskets, the cabinets...  Nothing is safe.  All 3 of them can hide behind a cloth to self initiate peek a boo and still love it when mommy plays the ahh-choo game and "help" me build with blocks. They are getting better and better about sitting and listening to stories, an activity that works better in the daytime versus bedtime at our house.

The girls reading their animal book.

MAC
Continues to keep his sweet and cuddly disposition.  He's the best snuggler of the bunch, although when he's really excited to see you, you'll probably get a good smack on the face.  He has mastered crawling, and can pull to stand, but sometimes gets stuck and needs help to get back down.

He's waving at all the goodbyes and even while crying will wave a bye bye to the nurse or at nap time...  He has transitioned from the open/shut wave to a full swing of his wrist. He's got a few mouth tricks now, the most recent using his fingers to make a blub, blub, blub; and the sniffing game remains a favorite.  His favorite book is the "toys" book, which is a lift a flap book.  He shouts when the girls try and take his toys or get too close, but enjoys being with them in play.

He's the quickest to pull out a sad lip, and his whole face melts.  Darren told him a little too strongly to stop rolling over during a diaper change, and our sensitive soul got the lip working really fast.  He loves to crawl around, but continues to smack the floor deliberately so you can hear him coming.  Yesterday, he crawled right out of our front yard to Miss Renees next door.

Mac loves music and bounces with the rhythm, sometimes using hands up in the air.  He tries to imitate most hand gestures, we have a whole game of meeting index fingers.

Planning his escape during a cracker break.

Waving bye bye to daddy.

He uses a taggy blanket as his lovey at bed time, and tends to be the happiest of babies.  His new food is cantelope, but he continues to eat most things.

Paisley continues to have an unending source of energy.  She would prefer if we never actually put her to bed. She's got a big old smile, full of 8 teeth, and loves to be a mischief maker.  Mommys cell phone is off limits, and if she sees it out, she will creep toward it all the while watching me to see if I've noticed.

She's a mover and a shaker, dancing whenever she hears music with quite a collection of different moves.

If she had her way, I think she would be held 90% of the time.  She loves to be carried around on my hip, and points her fingers and gives an babbling version of "go go".  She thinks she should be able to see what's cooking on the stove at all times.

She's recently started counting my shoulder and leg as a great chew toy, and while I like to think that the first time is an accident, the grin she gets when told no, and then the proceeding to try again, make me question the follow up...

She's letting go more and more to stand without support, and uses her walking you to get around the room. She's also a champ at walking with her fingers held.

She waves with her whole arm, when she's interested.  Most of the time she is interested in whatever her brother and sister are doing or have.  She'll go to them and stare directly at them as she slowly pulls away their toys... "Do you see what I'm doing here?" She seems to say...
Being an imp climbing up to the toilet.  Aren't babies gross sometimes?

Paisley continues to have challenges sleeping through the night, but now that the house is healthy again, I'm starting to work on that again.

Catherine had the worst couple of weeks with the bug, and still is a little needy, but getting closer to normal.  Through it all, she remained the best sleeper.

She has her slow shy smile and gives it out freely to strangers.  She's also walking with walking toys, but a little more uncoordinated than paisley.  Her balance is coming, but not quite yet.

She loves to play "I'm gonna get you" and squeals with delight.  If sitting in my lap for a snack, she pulls and pushes to open and close my hand to retrieve the treasure inside.

Eating Cheerios (and missing her mouth some)

In the Tupperware box as we get ready for our first consignment sale.

Showing off her long self...

A few of the trio.

Investigating the refrigerator.  Paisley likes Stella Artois.

Take care!  And hope you all stay healthy..
